Where to swim around Masbate City

No need to cross to Ticao or Burias for a swim — the city has real options within a tricycle or short boat ride. Here's the local rotation:

Buntod Reef Sandbar — the classic

Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary from the air — the sandbar and stilt pavilion

15 minutes by boat from in front of Rendezvous Resort (₱500 for a small group). A white sandbar in the middle of a marine sanctuary: swim, snorkel over the regenerating coral, walk the bar at low tide. Small entrance fee, stilt cottages for shade. Go on a weekday morning and it can be yours alone.

Bituon Beach Resort (Mobo) — the easy day out

Bituon Beach, Mobo — palms and a banca on the shore

~30 minutes from the city along the Nautical Highway (tricycle ~₱200), one of the oldest resorts in the province. Entrance ₱50, day cottages, calm dark-sand swimming, overnight rooms if the afternoon turns into a sunset. The default family Sunday.

Johnny's Private Resort — the pool option

Private-resort style: pools and cottages you book for the day or exclusively — the move for birthdays and barkada parties rather than a sea swim. Book via their Facebook page; weekends fill up.

Presidential Beach (Dimasalang) — the road-trip

Out east in Brgy. Cadulan, Dimasalang (~1.5–2h from the city): a quiet resort-beach that's become a favorite day-trip on the east coast. Pair it with the Palanas–Dimasalang coastal road for the ride.

Going bigger

Palani Beach (Balud) — the west-coast white-sand epic, 2.5–3h away. Worth the overnight.
Ticao and Burias — when a swim becomes an island trip.
